LOS ANGELES—Adult star and industry activist Cherie DeVille has a new article on The Daily Beast. Titled "Male Porn Stars Rush to Get Vasectomies After ‘Roe’ Reversal," the piece discusses the reaction to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
DeVille interviewed two male industry members, performer Xander Corvus and podcaster Matt Slayer, about their choice to get vasectomies now that more and more states are restricting access to abortions. DeVille lays out the scenario that with intercourse, accidents can happen, even with birth control. While access to safe abortions is legal in California, DeVille points out that staunch pro-life activist Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, has vowed to get safe abortions banned in the state. With this news, DeVille points out that more and more male performers are opting to get the snip.
Said Corvus, "I figured the most direct form of solidarity a cis man can give in this situation is to get snipped, so I am."
Slayer echoed Corvus' support for their partners, saying, "Why traumatize a partner with having to make that hard decision when I can be in and out of a doctor’s office in less time than it takes to record a podcast?"
And while the reversal of Roe v. Wade may seem to be only about abortion, DeVille makes it clear that the industry sees this as suppression of sexual freedom, which will affect those out of the industry as well.
