LOS ANGELES—Model GoAskAlex, also known as AskAlex, takes center stage in one of the latest episodes of web series 60 Second Docs, titled “Model With a Disability.”
In this engaging first-person profile, Alex briefly explains her daily life as an adult model and performer with an ostomy—in 2019, she underwent life-altering surgery to treat her ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease, which now necessitates the use of an external abdominal pouch.
“I was doing live webcam streaming for almost a decade, but I got a little bit burned out,” Alex says of her career that, while gratifying and pleasurable, was also incredibly demanding and often difficult to maintain on a regular basis. “I have persistent health issues, so now I do subscription-based work; I am self-employed and an independent creator ... my work, it’s a very full-time job, but it’s all entirely what I feel like doing and what I’m interested in doing.”
