Wicked, Associated Lines Earn 40 Noms for 2021 AVN Awards

LOS ANGELES—Top adult studio Wicked Pictures and some of the lines it distributes have been given forty 2021 AVN Awards nominations. The work of Wicked's contract creators is being celebrated alongside contributions from such independent filmmakers as Mike Quasar and Holly Randall. These productions from the studio's in-house imprints have showcased the talents of such independent performers as Tommy Pistol and Damon Dice, who, like Wicked's Brad Armstrong, were all recognized in the Best Actor and/or Best Supporting Actor categories. (A full list of nominees appears below.)

Top parody king and gonzo specialist Axel Braun, one of Wicked's in-house filmmakers, received nominations for both Director of the Year and Best Directing—Non-Narrative Production, the latter for the Editor's Choice Stilettos. Braun's other nominations include Best Niche Movie or Anthology (Bush 3), Best Gonzo/Wall-to-Wall Movie or Anthology (Brown Sugar 4), and Best Curve Appeal Movie or Anthology (Busty Hotwives 2).

Wicked's traditional product was looked favorably upon by the AVN editorial staff in tandem with such new ventures as performer/producer/director/sex educator Jessica Drake's ongoing docu-sodic project Jessica's FANtasies, which earned her a Best Solo/Tease Performance nomination (for the episode "My Fantasy Teacher"). Drake's longtime collaborator, Wicked contract director/performer/production designer Brad Armstrong, received a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work in Holly Randall's Finding Rebecca, which also snared a Best Screenplay—Drama nod. Another Randall effort, the lighthearted Kenna James vehicle Stranger Than Fiction, earned Damon Dice a Best Supporting Actor nomination.

Mike Quasar's Wicked Passions release iLove has emerged as the studio's most-nominated dramatic feature, garnering attention in a trio of major categories, including Grand Reel, Best Actor (Tommy Pistol), and Best Screenplay—Drama (Quasar and Shawn Alff).  Quasar also received a Best Screenplay—Comedy nod for Swipe Right, while his Back In The Game received a nomination for Best Episodic Movie or Anthology.

Outside lines distributed by the company, including Europe's Dorcel and Down Under content creator abbywinters.com, were also recipients of major nominations.

Paris-based Dorcel's Bad Girls Lesbian Desires got nominations for Best All-Girl Movie or Anthology, Best Directing—Foreign Production, and Best Foreign-Shot All-Girl Sex Scene, while One Night in Budapest was nominated for Best Episodic Series or Site, and Best Cinematography. Filmmaker Kay Brandt's Cherie Deville vehicle 40 Years Old, Comes To Life garnered its star a Best Leading Actress nomination in addition to a Best Screenplay—Comedy nod. Another installment in the 40 Years Old series, A 40 Year-Old Wife's Deep Desires, snared a Best MILF Movie or Anthology nomination. Brandt's Climax was nominated for Best Group Sex Scene.

Another longtime Dorcel collaborator, Herve Bodilis, picked up several nominations, including Best BDSM Movie or Anthology and Best Foreign-Shot Group Sex Scene for Mariska, Desires of Submission, and both Best Directing—Foreign Production and Best Gangbang Scene for A Perfect Woman. Alis Locanta’s Clea Gaultier vehicle Clea, An Indecent Story snared nominations for Best Star Showcase and Best Foreign-Shot Anal Sex Scene, while A Day With Clea was nominated for Best Directing—Foreign Production (Franck Vicomte). Another Gaultier vehicle, Dorcel Airlines: Indecent Flight Attendants, received a nomination for Best Foreign-Shot All-GIrl Sex Scene.

Two new series from the Paris-based studio, Stars and Pulsations/Impulses, earned several accolades: Stars #1 gained nominations for Best Foreign-Shot Boy/Girl Sex Scene and Best Wall to Wall/Gonzo Series or Site, while Pulsations/Impulses earned a Best Foreign Production nod. (A DorcelVision.com scene, "Alexis 4 You", was also nominated for Best Foreign-Shot Group Sex Scene.)

Long recognized in the all-natural, reality-based porn market, abbywinters.com has been acknowledged in multiple categories. The Girl Girl Sex franchise snared a Best All-Girl Series or Site nomination, while a Best Niche Series or Site nod went to the solo girl masturbation franchise Private Moments.

abbywinters.com's Girls And Their Boys, the first imprint in the studio's history to deviate from the label's longstanding focus on girls-only content, received a nomination for Best Gonzo/Wall-to-Wall Series or Site.

Beyond performer and production nominations, Wicked Sensual Care, the creator of lubricants and enhancers, has been nominated for both Best Lubricant Manufacturer and Best Enhancement Manufacturer—a company first.

“There is so much to be thankful for in these diverse nominations," said Wicked President and owner Steve Orenstein. "In these unprecedented times, it is very rewarding to see our contract creators, stars, and independent collaborators continuing to set the standard and keep the quality of their work at the highest level possible. When you factor in the foreign lines we distribute, Dorcel and abbywinters.com, we have nominations in nearly thirty different categories. Thank you, AVN, for recognizing and celebrating the consistently high quality of the work Wicked produces and distributes."

Like many industry ceremonies held during the COVID 19 Pandemic, the 2021 AVN Awards Show is going to be an all-digital event. Winners will be announced on January 23, 2021 in a virtual ceremony hosted by Kira Noir and Skyler Lo on AVN Stars.
