Art at the Dungeon Series Kicks Off With Lawrence Pryor

LOS ANGELES—The new series Art t the Dungeon kicks off next month at Santuary Studios LAX with “Art Studio Nudes, Featuring Lawrence Pryor.”

The event is slated for 3-6 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Sanctuary Studios LAX, 10914 S La Cienega Blvd., Lennox, CA 90304. The charity event ChamPAIN follows fro 8 pm. to 2 a.m.

The photography of Boston-based Pryor will be on display for one night only.

Pryor has been a presence in the international art community for 30-plus years with dozens of exhibitions including his photography, painting and bronze sculpture. Art at the Dungeon will consist of two main parts. The first part consists of a series of art studio nudes of performer-songwriter Amanda Palmer. Palmer is the lead singer of The Dresden Dolls and Amanda Palmer and The Grand Theft Orchestra, one half of the duo Evelyn, Evelyn, and continues as a solo artist. The second part will consist of other studio nudes, depicting the intimate interaction of men and women. This exhibition will be accompanied by a book, Amanda Palmer, Photographs by Lawrence Pryor, featuring many of the photographs of Amanda Palmer presented in the exhibition. 

The exhibition and artist’s book are a revisioning of the critical relationship of the photographer and the model/performance artist at the outset of their creative careers.This series is an expression of the creative ambitions, risk taking and genuine collaboration of artist and performer.

The ChamPAIN Room charity event is a strip club-themed BDSM play party. Amateur and professionals will dance, strip, or perform all night. BDSM play is allowed during the event. General admission is $25 at the door, $10 for performers and $250 for VIP guests. Donations in any amount are welcome and go towards any of the featured charities. ChamPAIN guests are required to sign up for a free Club Algos membership on EventBrite by 6 p.m. March 30 in order to be able to buy tickets at the door. The EventBrite link is here.
