HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Photographer Jay David joined host Matt Slayer on the latest episode of the "And Now We Drink" podcast, now streaming.
In episode 378, David reflected on his journey from the gaming industry, where he worked as a developer on major titles like Apex Legends and Doom 3, then went into photography.
The two discussed gaming launches, event photography, the craziness of fandoms, the importance of maintaining professionalism, and the intersection of fan interaction and media production.
Host Slayer said, "This episode came about because of a drunk DM slide from Jay. Since drunk texting is near and dear to my heart, I had to set up this taping, and Jay didn’t disappoint. Learning that Jay made his way from the world of AAA gaming to adult was an unexpected twist on my one of my favorite photographers in the biz. Since Jay decided to pregame I think this may be the most candid the industry will ever see him."
David commented, "One of my first podcasts in the biz, and it was a wild time with Matt! We dove into everything—from my past life as a video game developer to the creepy comments people leave on my photos. Plus, I might've remembered a few things I'd forgotten… thanks to the drinks, of course. Huge shoutout to Matt for having me on and keeping it entertaining."
