CYBERSPACE—#SexTalkTuesday has announced that artist Ami Mercury, through her Twitter account @OrcGirlComic, will serve as special guest moderator on the September 8 edition of the Twitter-based chat show—and she'll have plenty to say on the topic of erotic art. The chat will run from 8-9 p.m. ET/5-6 p.m. PT.
“I’m thrilled to have Ami Mercury guest moderating and helping us delve into the syncretic relationship between the visual arts and adult entertainment. Fellow creatives are in for a real treat with this week’s discussion,” said Angie Rowntree, owner of Sssh.com and producer of #SexTalkTuesday.
Ami Mercury has worked in the adult industry for six years doing porn, fetish movies, webcamming and phone sex. She has been writing and illustrating her romance comic Orc Girl for more than three years. Mercury also enjoys creating art pieces focusing on some of her favorite characters and creatures of fiction. Like her adult industry work, her art often portrays kink and sex- positive themes, romance, fantasy and a nuanced view of morality. A lifestyle kinkster herself, Mercury also participates in and teaches BDSM and kink classes across the country at lifestyle and industry events. She is currently running a self-love/body positivity campaign called "How To Be Orc" inspired by her comics and adult work, encouraging others to find their inner strength, or as she puts it their "inner orc."
"Through both my adult industry work and my art, I am able to explore and share my interests in a way that I hope others can enjoy, as well. I do this with my webcomic Orc Girl, especially,” said Mercury. “Before writing it, I had noticed a lack of fantasy stories geared towards audiences in adulthood, as opposed to the plethora of coming-of-age stories in the same genre. I wanted a story with adult characters dealing with adult problems, but still rife with all the elements that I always loved about fantasy. Being a sex worker and part of a lifestyle BDSM power dynamic, I also wanted the opportunity to tell a story with positive displays of sexuality and kink."
"Sex Talk Tuesday" is a Twitter-based chat held every second Tuesday of the month. #SexTalkTuesday is hosted and coordinated by Sssh.com. Each session, a guest moderator asks thought-provoking questions to a large and active group of participants, who send hundreds of tweets during each round of #SexTalkTuesday.
