LOS ANGELES—Amberly Rothfield discusses how the flood of celebrities joining OnlyFans is impacting sex workers in an article on InsideHook.
Rothfield, who is known for her consulting and marketing work with adult models, told reporter Kay Kibbe that she was concerned about the future of the platform, and pointed out that other large platforms, such as Twitch and YouTube, have originally allowed suggestive content before moving away from it. She said platforms typically begin to crack down on content that advertisers consider to be unacceptable, but added that while OnlyFans does not rely on advertisements, it may be negatively impacted by celebrities who may threaten to leave the platform to avoid being associated with the adult industry, taking their revenue with them.
“I don’t want models to think they need to abandon the platform," Rothfield said. "OnlyFans could stay true to their word and allow the adult industry to continue using it. But they might not, and I don’t want models to be caught unaware.”
