DOVER, Del.—Adult industry market research firm SWR Data released survey data today indicating that adult content creators support Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election by more than 65 percentage points—more than seven to one—in a new poll of more than 200 sex workers conducted by the firm between October 18-23.
With estimates of more than two million adult content creators in the United States, many with substantial social media followings, adult creators make up a potentially powerful voting bloc, SWR said.
Among poll respondents eligible to vote, 74 percent said they will vote for Harris, while just nine percent said they will vote for Trump. More than seven percent said they would vote for someone other than the two leading candidates, with nine percent “undecided.”
Harris performs strongest amongst strippers with 78 percent for Harris, and “those working on studio sets” at 81 percent who said they would vote for the sitting vice president.
Trump is strongest amongst webcam models and phone sex operators, with 11 percent of both groups supporting the former president. Trump supporters in the sex industry are more certain of their vote, SWR Data said. All said they were extremely certain in their choice of candidate, versus just 80 percent of Harris voters.
Data showed pro-Harris creators are more than three times as likely to speak with their followers about politics “very often” or “occasionally.” Half of the pro-Trump creators said they never discuss politics with their fans, while just 18 percent of pro-Harris creators refrain from political discourse with followers.
“With censorship and bodily autonomy on the ballot, the stakes could not be higher,” adult performer and co-founder of SWR Data MelRose Michaels said. “We’re seeing a highly political, highly engaged sex worker population embrace its voice and flex its muscle. While there’s certainly still significant concern in the community over Harris’ role in passing FOSTA, there’s clearly much, much greater concern about the possibility of a second Trump administration and the potential repercussions of Project 2025-like theocracy.”
