Zero Tolerance Entertainment and Third Degree Films have garnered multiple nominations in many categories for the 2013 AVN Awards, which will take place January 19, 2013 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and will air on Showtime Networks.
"We're thrilled with the number of nominations this year," said Domenick Bongiorno, head of production at Zero Tolerance Entertainment. "Our bigger films like The Valley and The Hangover Parody really stood out as unique and entertaining, but we're also excited about our new line "Addicted 2 Girls" getting some attention."
Zero Tolerance's original feature film drama The Valley is up for more than just a few awards this year, including Best Drama, Best Director (Sam Hain), Best Screenplay (Sam Hain), Best Cinematography (David Lord), Best Supporting Actress (Chanel Preston), Best Editing (Chad Lee), Best Boy/Girl Scene, Best Oral Scene, Best Three-Way Scene and Best Packaging. The sexy noir thriller lit up screens this past summer to critical acclaim, and AVN has taken notice.
In the parody category, ZT's The Hangover Parody received a heavy dose of attention from AVN. The hilarious send-up will compete for Best Parody - Comedy, Best Screenplay - Parody (Spock Buckton), Best Director (Mike Quasar, Spock Buckton, Brian Bangs), Best Cinematography (Mike Quasar) and Best Editing (Mike Quasar), not to mention well-deserved acting nominations such as Best Supporting Actor (Dane Cross), and Best Supporting Actress (Tori Black), Best Solo Sex Scene (Tori Black) and Best Non-Sex Performance (Spock Buckton.) This riotously funny romp is also nominated for Best Group Sex Scene.
Mike Quasar's timely How To Make A Cheap Porno received ample attention as well with nominations for Best Comedy, Best Director - Non-Feature, and Best Screenplay (Mike Quasar). Its witty script follows the antics of a crew doing their best to create an adult film on a budget.
"I'm not sure I understand the nomination for best comedy for How To Make A Cheap Porno. It wasn't supposed to be funny. I was really trying to make a cheap porno, and in this age of piracy and tube sites, I suggest all pornographers view it as educational material," quipped Mike Quasar dryly. The Zero Tolerance director is nominated for multiple awards this year and will be in attendance at the January ceremony. "The production of The Hangover Parody was a learning experience for me. I learned that it is indeed possible to create award-worthy material while intoxicated."
The imaginative re-invention of Scarface in the Official Scarface Parody will compete for Best Parody - Drama. Instead of drugs, the kingpin in this version is dealing in addictive sex lube, a hilarious twist that kept the star-studded cast laughing between takes.
"Parodies are simply fun because there's this open framework in which we can poke fun at iconic characters and their situations," stated Gary Orona, Scarface Parody director. "The spoofing opportunities in this film were huge given the extreme nature of Tony Montana and the severity of the storyline. Shooting in South Beach, Florida at many of the same locations as the original movie also gave it an air of authenticity."
The Zero Tolerance "No Limits" series has been nominated for Best New Series, and Chanel Preston No Limits in particular will compete for Best Double Penetration Scene, Best Group Sex Scene, and Best Star Showcase, which is a new award category for 2013.
Other ZT nominations include Kittens and Cougars 5, which has been nominated for Best Older/Younger Release; Blow Me Sandwich 15, up for Best Oral Release; and Carwash Orgy 2 and Gym Rats Orgy, both vying for Best Orgy/Gangbang. Four Eyed Fuck Fest 2 brought Zero Tolerance Entertainment a nomination for Best All Sex Release, Illegal Ass 3 is up for Best Anal Release, while Internal Cumbustion 17 will contend for Best Internal Release.
Third Degree Films also garnered more nominations, including Girlfriends 4 for Best All Girl Group Scene; Lesbo Pool Party for Best All Girl Release; Best Original Song in Pink Lips; Best All Sex Release for Lap Dance; Best Vignette Release for More Than You Bargained For; Best Young Girl Release for Cheerleaders Gone Bad; Best Big Bust Release for Titties n Lace; and the Clever Title Award for Ass Cream Sandwich. Best Foot/Leg Release will have three Third Degree films to judge, with Legs, Nylons 9 and Laid in Lingerie.
In the Best Educational Release category, Dr. Ava's Zero Tolerance 'how-to' guides did well with one nod each to Dr. Ava's Guide To Oral Sex and Dr. Ava's Guide To Anal Sex.
"It's always been my goal to have a series of instructional DVDs to help couples make their sex lives even better and deepen their intimacy," explained Dr. Ava Cadell, sex therapist and founder of Loveology University. "The AVN nominations are the icing on the cake!"
Last but certainly not least, the new all-girl company associated with Zero Tolerance Entertainment, "Addicted 2 Girls," will vie for Best New Line.
"We've had very positive response to our new girl/girl line from consumers," said Marcus West, Marketing Director at Zero Tolerance Entertainment. "It's great to get the recognition from AVN in our first year of production. We think it's an essential addition to our family of film lines."
The 2013 AVN Awards will take place on January 19, 2013 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Many producers, directors and actors from Zero Tolerance Entertainment and Third Degree Films will be in attendance.
