LAS VEGAS — Golden Age powerhouse VCX has racked up another industry accolade with a Best Classic DVD trophy for Johnny Wadd.
VCX received the honor from Adult DVD Empire in the recently announced 2008 Empire Awards. The special edition of the early John Holmes feature beat four other nominees, including another Holmes feature (Eruption, released through VCX's Cal-Vista Classics line) and Philip Mond's Zazel.
VCX restored Johnny Wadd from a 16mm print discovered in the archives of director Bob Chinn. The DVD also features a director's commentary and an in-depth video featurette with Chinn discussing the making of the film and the adult movie industry of the 1970s.
Recent VCX releases in the Cal-Vista collection include Pleasure Palace, starring Serena, the Kay Parker flick Lorelei, and The Other Side of Julie, featuring Suzanne French.
Scheduled for release next month is The Joy of Fooling Around, named Best Foreign Film of 1979 and starring the incomparable Monique duPrez — described as "unquestionably the hottest, most vivacious erotic sex symbol you've ever seen on the screen — period!"
