LOS ANGELES—Severe Society Films' epic fetish feature Treacherous made a big splash on both coasts this past weekend, winning a trophy at the first-ever Femdom Awards on Feb. 28 her in Southern California, and screening March 1 at CineKink NYC.
These accolades complement the film's previous AVN nominations for Best BDSM Release and Most Outrageous Sex Scene.
"Treacherous has received a lot of recognition this season," said executive producer and Severe Society Films co-owner Jimmy Broadway. “But to be judged the best by members of the fetish film-making community, that is extra special."
"We really pushed the envelope with Treacherous, both in content and in production values, and it's so great to see our work get recognized," added SSF co-owner Dee Severe, who also co-directed the feature with Aiden Starr.
Treacherous explores the public spectacle and behind the scenes power struggles at an underground sex and bondage club. With a running time of more than four hours and with a cast of 55 performers, it is among the most ambitious fetish features ever produced.
"Treacherous represents the future of BDSM movies," said co-director Starr. "In the past, BDSM films were replete with heavy and authentic discipline, bondage and pain training, but left the sex to the private bedrooms of our viewers. There is a new wave of heavy fetish entertainment and Severe Society is at its forefront. I'm proud to be a part of this huge feature."
At CineKink's annual film festival CineKink NYC, Treacherous was part of the festival's closing night line-up. Founded in 2003, CineKink recognizes and encourages the positive depiction of sexuality and kink in film and television.
"With so much attention on kink in the mainstream, and the release of Fifty Shades, it's exciting to be back with such a rich and diverse festival line-up," noted Lisa Vandever, co-founder and director of CineKink. "Our submissions increased by over 30 percent this year but our number of available screening slots actually decreased. This has made for an incredibly difficult selection process."
"CineKink has become a very competitive festival," added Severe. “So it's really an honor to be included."
"I am so proud of Dee and Jimmy, they have been committed to making five-star product since the beginning,” said Howard Levine of Exile Distribution, which distributes Severa Society. “They have become one of Exile’s premiere studios in a very short time. Awards are a cherry on top of the ice cream, but sales are the ice cream, and so far they are a five-scoop bowl of the most delicious Ben and Jerry's Whipped and Creamy.”
