Pulse Distribution Scores Big With 227 AVN Nominations

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—When AVN Media Network announced the 2010 AVN Awards nominations, Pulse Distribution and the studios it represents definitely had something to celebrate. The distribution powerhouse was looking at a record-breaking achievement, with 41 of its exclusive studios nominated for an impressive 227 nominations total—and of those nominations, eight of the studios had more than 10 nominations each.

Three titles stood out with multiple nominations across the board—Vivid’s Throat: A Cautionary Tale, with 13 nominations; Club Jenna’s Fuck the World, with 10 nominations; and Vivid Alt’s Live in My Secrets, with seven nominations.

Pulse continues to introduce top-quality studios to the market, as shown when six 6 out of 15 nominations for Best New Video Production Company went to companies associated with Pulse.

"This was arguably the most pleasing category for us,” said Pulse Executive VP of Sales Robert Plarski. “To have six nominees that specialize in widely differing niches—including European, Urban, Amateur, Reality and Glamour—is a real accomplishment. We are always looking to add quality to our lineup, and AVN’s recognition of our new studios is extremely gratifying.”

Pulse featured strongly in many other categories. For Best Education Release, Pulse stole the show with eight out of nine nominations. Vivid Ed led with four nominations, but Penthouse, Rocket Science and Visage also got nods.

In the highly anticipated race for Best Actress, five of the 15 of the performers starred in films from Pulse studios. In the Best Amateur Series category, Pulse studios were definitely not amateurs with five of 15 nominations. For Best BDSM Release, Pulse snatched six out of 15 nominations from five different studios: Bizarre Video, Anastasia Pierce, Crown Jewell Productions, Gwen Media and Club Jenna.

In the Best Big Bust Series category, Pulse busted out with three studios—Swank Digital, Lethal Hardcore and Reality Kings—being nominated. In Best Big Butt Release, Pulse also came out bottoms up with Lethal Hardcore, Reality Kings and Iron/Cross Teravision getting tapped.

No laughing matter, the Best Comedy category is always competitive—and Pulse studios got five out of 15 nominations, including recognition for Penthouse’s Drill Baby, Korporate Cougars and Booby Trap along with Vivid’s Funny Bone and The Pinch. Great titles can also get a laugh—and Pulse took five of the 15 nominations for Clever Title of the Year with such titles as Your Mom Tossed My Salad (Lethal Hardcore), Cash for Chunkers (Lethal Hardcore) and Barrack’s Big Stimulus Package (Rezko Films).

Best High-End Release nominations were bestowed on three of Pulse’s studios—Club Jenna for Fuck the World, Vivid Alt for Live in My Secrets and Cezar Capone’s Johnny Loves Morgan. Best Videography/Cinematography is an artistic achievement, and Pulse studios shone there as well with one-third of the nominations, including Vivid Alt grabbing three nominations in addition to Club Jenna and Vivid.

Even on the technical front, Pulse studios led the pack—Vivid Alt got three of 15 nominations for Best DVD Menus along with Club Jenna and Razordolls to give Pulse a total of five nominations.
