HILLSBOROUGH, NC—The holiday season brings with it the more obvious need for food and comfort for the less fortunate in the community. PHE, Inc and its employees continue an annual tradition this year by providing Thanksgiving meals to the needy families in its home base of Orange County.
For many years now, PHE has considered this service a top priority around the Thanksgiving holiday, to which food is a traditional and central part. This year, the holiday giving is being kicked off with the donation of a traditional thanksgiving meal to 25 Orange County families in need.
Coordinating through Orange County Social Services (OCSS), the effort becomes a uniting force within the company, with various employee departments working together to compile the different elements of the meals. OCSS picks up a van-load of meals from the PHE offices and gets them to the families in time for the Thursday feast.
“The holidays can be rough when you don’t have the family and financial stability that many of us take for granted” said Shelanda Jones, a long-time PHE worker and Orange County resident. “I am proud of PHE’s role in helping 25 local families celebrate substantially who otherwise may not have been able.”
