CLEARWATER, Fla.—The biggest celebration of the adult nightclub industry and the crowning event of the Annual Gentlemen's Club Owners EXPO, the Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show—better known as the ED's Awards—will return for its 17th straight year at the 2014 EXPO at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Once again, the House of Blues, located directly inside Mandalay Bay and boasting a national reputation as one of the nation’s best live music venues, will play host to the show.
The Annual ED’s Awards Show, presented by Anheuser-Busch and slated for 9-11 p.m. Aug. 19, will honor the best-of-the-best in adult nightclubs, club staff and feature entertainment. The show will be hosted by top comedian Ralphie May, will feature special guest presenters, the all-female “house” rock band Brazen and command performances by the four nominees for ED’s Overall Entertainer of the Year Award: Lacey Rain, Roxi D'Lite, Simone Danalustrous and Tali De'Mar.
“Our four Overall Entertainer of the Year nominees represent the top touring ‘showgirl’ feature entertainers in our industry, and we are looking forward to their live performances during the 17th Annual ED’s Awards Show at the House of Blues in Las Vegas,” said ED Publications’ Associate Publisher Dave Manack. “And, of course, our club nominees—highlighted by the eight clubs vying for the prestigious Overall Gentlemen's Club of the Year Award—represent the best-of-the-best in clubs of all sizes, both big and small.”
Those eight clubs nominated for Overall Gentlemen's Club of the Year include Atlantis Gentlemen’s Club in Chicago, Delilah’s Gentlemen’s Club in Philadelphia, Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club in Las Vegas, Penthouse Club in San Francisco, Rick’s Cabaret DFW in Fort Worth, Texas, Scarlett’s Cabaret in Miami, The Pony in Huntsville, Alabama and the Vivid Gentlemen's Club in Charlotte (Mooresville), North Carolina. The remaining club nominees can be viewed below, and are also featured at www.theEDawards.com.
The Awards Show will also feature current adult film starlets as special presenters, including Lisa Ann, Tori Black, Allie Haze, Belle Knox, The Starr Sisters, Adraina Chechik and Veronica Rodriguez. Reigning ED’s Overall Feature Entertainer of the Year Christina Aguchi will also be on hand to present the Overall Feature Entertainer of the Year Award to the 2014 winner.
The voting for the 2014 ED's Awards is open now and will be held online only at TheEDawards.com through Monday, July 14. Club, entertainer and staff nominees were gathered mainly from pre-nomination votes placed at www.theEDawards.com throughout the month of May.
To make sure that the ED's Awards Show remains a slim, trim two-hour presentation, a select few awards have been moved to a special presentation during the Opening Night '80s Dance Party at the luxurious LIGHT Nightclub inside Mandalay Bay on Aug. 18. At the Opening Night Party, the following awards will be presented: “Feature” Club of the Year, Club Favorite Entertainer of the Year, Adult Movie Feature Entertainer of the Year, Miss ExoticDancer.com of the Year, DJ/Emcee of the Year and Club Employee of the Year. [Please note: The final nominees for the 2014 Miss ExoticDancer.com Award will appear on a separate online ballot in July.]
Ralphie May is one of the most popular comedians in the country, and has a proven track record of selling out multiple shows in 1,500- to 3,000-seat venues. He has also seen a great deal of success with recent DVD releases, including 2012's Ralphie May: Too Big to Ignore. He has a no-nonsense point of view and the ability to connect with a diverse audience by pointing out society's hypocrisies. He doesn't shy away from touchy topics or ethnic jokes, nor does he bite his tongue, and he received multiple standing ovations during the 2010 ED’s Awards Show, his first appearance as ED’s show host.
