WASHINGTON, DC—Longtime high-profile porn star Nina Hartley will be making six fundraising appearances in the DC/MD/VA area July 12-15, all to benefit the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance, a national nonprofit organization based in DC that works to affirm sexual freedom and relationship choice as a fundamental human right.
Whatever you think of pornography—and some folks have some pretty odd ideas about it—people in that field have some fascinating stories to tell. Nina Hartley has been a well-known icon for a quarter century. She's met everybody and done everything, been there done that and ripped away the T-shirt, and promises to completely display it all, fully, freely, and frankly.
In addition, Nina Hartley is a passionate, intelligent, articulate human rights advocate, and will be speaking about her work campaigning for the rights of underrepresented people in all areas, though especially in the areas of marriage equality, relationship choice, and personal options.
Nina will be appearing at open public events in DC and Baltimore. On July 12, she will be giving a sexuality workshop at Sugar in Baltimore, and on July 13 she will be the featured speaker at "A Conversation With Nina" in the DC area where she will talk about her life and interests, and take audience questions.
In addition, Nina Hartley will be the featured guest at some limited-ticket "VIP events," including a July 13 dinner in DC, a July 13 reception in Silver Spring, a July 14 "upscale debauchery" party in Northern VA, and a July 15 lunch in Baltimore. These "VIP events" are limited to just a few attendees, and will offer an opportunity to chat directly with Nina Hartley.

Three organizations have come together to sponsor these fundraising events with Nina Hartley to benefit the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance: Sugar, a lesbian owned, women- and trans-operated, for profit, mission-driven sex toy store; BmorePoly, the largest polyamory organization of its type in the Mid-Atlantic area, with dozens of locations in D.C., Maryland and Virginia; and Silk and Skin, a member owned-and-operated website with information on the swinging lifestyle... and some of the best parties in the DC area for website members.

Nina Hartley's appearances are fundraising events to benefit the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance, a national nonprofit organization based in Washington DC. The Woodhull Alliance works to affirm sexual freedom and relationship choice as a fundamental human right. Its goal is a world that fulfills the words of the United States Supreme Court, which stated that "our laws and tradition afford constitutional protection to personal decisions relating to marriage, procreation, contraception, family relationships, child rearing, and education. In explaining the respect the Constitution demands for the autonomy of the person in making these choices, we (the court) stated as follows: 'These matters, involving the most intimate and personal choices a person may make in a lifetime, choices central to personal dignity and autonomy, are central to the liberty protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. At the heart of liberty is the right to define one’s own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life. Beliefs about these matters could not define the attributes of personhood were they formed under compulsion of the State." (Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pa. v. Casey, 505 U. Woodhull seeks public and social policies that affirm the right of all human beings to control their own bodies, minds and spirits and therefore their own destinies, and in particular the right of sexual self expression.
