CHATSWORTH, CA — Adult studios New Sensations and Digital Sin have received a combined total of 57 nominations for the 2014 AVN Awards. Among the most prestigious nominations was recognition in the Best Romance, Best All-Sex Release, Best Director, Best New Line, and Best Acting categories.
With 135 categories across the industry's four main sectors, these nominations honor the very best work over the past year by those in virtually every facet of the adult sphere. The AVN Awards' nominating committee spent roughly six weeks painstakingly sifting through all the material at their disposal to compile the final nomination list.
Throughout 2013, New Sensations/Digital Sin has demonstrated its diversity and originality with the popularity of both story driven narratives and all sex releases. After a successful 2012 with AVN award-winning releases like Torn and The Innocence of Youth, Scott Taylor set out to explore even edgier content in each respective genre.
This evolution of content began with the debut of the AVN award nominated feature line, Erotic Stories Collection, which was a spin-off of the popular Romance Series. Erotic Stories, which garnered a combined 21 nominations for its films, The Submission of Emma Marx, Cabaret Desire, and The Temptation of Eve focuses on more explicit, sexual storylines within the feature genre.
Iris Blocks, writer for AVN magazine, said of the new series, "In the same way that the New Sensations Couples series added more emotionally complex situations than the lighter fare in the company’s Romance line, its Erotic Stories Collection goes even deeper, using hues significantly darker than those infamous Fifty Shades."
Within the all-sex genre, New Sensations/Digital Sin has produced some of the industry's most popular young girl titles, many of which garnered nominations for AVN this year (The Innocence of Youth, My Little Panties, Adorable 2, and Co-Eds are Easy). However, it was the studio's debut of several high-profile gang bang releases that really caused a stir in 2013.
The gang bang of Bonnie Rotten prompted Legal Editor for AVN, Mark Kernes, to describe the scene as "Volcanic." Inked Angels awarded the film the 2013 Scene of the Year, and XCritic gave it a coveted 'XCritic pick.' The video, which was recognized this year in AVN’s Best Orgy, Best Director (Eddie Powell), and Best Group Sex Scene categories also marks the first time that New Sensations/Digital Sin has received an AVN nomination for a gang bang film.
"I'm incredibly proud of what we were able to accomplish as a company this year," says Scott Taylor, President of New Sensations/Digital Sin. "The evolution of both our feature films and our all-sex releases has proven to be successful both in critical acclaim and overall sales. The studio couldn't be more excited for all the recognition AVN has given it this year. Fifty-seven nominations certainly validates the work and passion of our entire team, all of whom are committed to delivering the best possible product to our fans."
From gang bangs to narrative driven feature films, New Sensations/Digital Sin continues to produce films that are recognized as being among the best of the adult industry.
