Kathy Griffin Confirmed to Host GAYVN Awards

Comedienne Kathy Griffin, star of Bravo Cable Network's reality show, "My Life on the D-List," says she will still host the 2007 GAYVN Awards next Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at the landmark Castro Theatre in San Francisco.

Griffin lost her father last Friday after a long illness.

"We are grateful to Kathy and impressed with her courage," said Chad Beecher, Vice President Business Relations, AVN Media Networks, producer of the annual awards. "She's demonstrating that she's a real professional, carrying on in the face of tough personal news. She has our sympathy – and our respect."

The GAYVN Awards Show, the biggest night of the year for the gay adult entertainment industry, recognizes movies, talent and individuals who've contributed to the advancement of gay entertainment. The event will start with a reception for the industry at The Café, 2367 Market St.

Griffin will fly in from Las Vegas for the event.

A stand-up comedienne best known for her four-year stint as Brooke Shields' acerbic colleague Vickie Groener on the NBC sitcom, "Suddenly Susan," Griffin has supplied voices for several animated series including "Dilbert" and "The Simpsons." Her Bravo reality show, "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List", was renewed for a third season. The all-new mix of adventures chronicling Kathy's latest indignities will unfold over six unscripted episodes Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

Excerpts from the Awards show are being taped for use on Kathy's show on Bravo Television Network.

The 2007 GAYVN Awards are sponsored by ASACP, Cal Exotics, Commerce Gate, Cybersocket, EPOCH, Free Speech Coalition, GayImLive, GayHotMovies, Maleflixxx, ManShop, Nakedsword, Rentboy and VideoSecrets.
