CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Plus Size received the Smutty Schoolteacher Award for Sex Education at theFeminist Porn Awards in Toronto, Canada, on April 17.
The 10th anniversary Feminist Porn Awards was produced by Good For Her and held at Toronto’s Capitol Event Theatre. Visit FeministPornAwards.com for more information.
Although Drake was unable to attend, co-director Kelly Shibari accepted the award on her behalf. Shibari is a BBW performer and size acceptance advocate who also co-narrates the movie and performs in one of its scenes.
When accepting the award, Shibari read a statement from Drake: “When I first began my line, Jessica Drake's Guide to Wicked Sex, I wanted to create a unique hybrid of instructional movie—one that included a variety of topics for a wide range of people. Finding no available resources for people of size, creating a Plus Size Guide was always on my radar, but without Kelly's help, would likely not have happened.”
Produced by Wicked Pictures, Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Plus Size is the first sex education DVD created for the plus size community. The movie’s cast includes BBW performers Devlyn Red, Angel DeLuca, and Scarlet LaVey, as well as non-performer couples Scarlette Cyn and JC Lewis, and Sherri L. Shaulis and Michael Colbert; it showcases women of a diverse range of BBW sizes.
At the show, the award was presented through an introduction written by the Feminist Porn Awards’ Creative Director Lorraine Hewitt. She wrote, “Guide to Wicked Sex is both edifying and enticing. Alongside its great advice, it features candid interviews and erotic scenes between real couples in loving relationships. Together, porn stars and sexy civilians demonstrate their vulnerability and their desirability as they embrace their authentic—and gorgeous—sexual selves.”
Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Plus Size features a diverse range of BBW performers. The movie also includes size-friendly sex tips and body confidence and communication exercises for men, women, and couples of size.
The Feminist Porn Awards’ criteria are quality (films with good production values and performances), inclusiveness (films that explore diverse expressions of sexuality), the “It” factor (films with a unique, fresh or compelling perspective), as well as hotness (beautiful bodies that are well lit and arouse audiences).
