LOS ANGELES—Sex educator and Wicked Pictures contract performer Jessica Drake has racked up another AVN Award nomination for her series of educational movies. Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: BDSM for Beginners was nominated for Best BDSM Movie in the 2016 AVN Awards.
Drake herself was nominated for Mainstream Star of the Year, in recognition of her work to promote sex education globally in the media.
The nomination for Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: BDSM for Beginners is the most recent honor for the critically acclaimed series. Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex received AVN’s 2012 Best Educational Release trophy for “Fellatio,” while “Anal Sex for Men” received AVN’s 2014 Best Educational Release award.
Drake, who is a frequent contributor to many publications and media outlets, received her nomination for Mainstream Star of the Year due in part to her outspoken support for sexual wellness and healthy attitudes toward sex, and the media attention she drew to the subject.
“Educating people about sex and bringing about a positive discussion about sexual health and wellness is a passion and a calling for me,” Drake said. “I am very grateful to receive this nomination from AVN, and I thank Wicked Pictures, my fans, and all those committed to bringing about a better system of sex education.”
The AVN Awards will take place on January 23, 2016. To view a complete list of the 2016 nominees, click here.
In Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: BDSM for Beginners, some of the most experienced performers in adult entertainment take viewers on a guided tour of BDSM and show them the ropes—literally. Along with demos and interviews, there are also three hardcore BDSM scenes to provide inspiration. Within the 154-minute film, viewers will learn about safety, negotiating play, dominance and submission, collaring and posturing, spanking, whipping, flogging, restraints, sex toys, and more.
“Thank you to AVN for continuing to honor Jessica’s sex education efforts and also for asking her to once again be the ambassador of its “Sex Is” educational series during the upcoming AEE convention in January,” said Steve Orenstein, Wicked Pictures’ owner.
Earlier this year, drake was featured in Complex magazine, where she discussed the basics of BDSM and its value for improving intimacy. Moreover, she explained the phenomenon and appeal of the book and movie Fifty Shades of Grey in a number of news articles, including a Daily Dot interview in February.
“Women aren’t just buying the book, they’re buying the book with lingerie, lube, novelty items, toys,” she told the publication. “It’s started people talking about sex and exploring their sexuality.”
Drake also shared information and stories about BDSM and fetish play with Refinery29.com, Ravishly.com and other news and lifestyle websites.
