LOS ANGELES—Jason Toler's sexy chiller "Half Moon" enjoyed its world premiere March 1 at the New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood. Director Toler (known to adult fans as Tee Reel) proudly walked the red carpet alongside the cast, crew and a host of celebrity guests. (Click here for a photo gallery from the event.)
Various mainstream Hollywood figures were seen at the premiere, including George Tillman Jr. (writer/director of Soul Food and Faster), comedian Adam Hunter (NBC's Last Comic Standing), Lark Vorhees (Saved by the Bell), Eric Forsberg (director of Almighty Thor) and actor Marlon Young (from MTV's The Hard Times of RJ Berger and the upcoming Battle Los Angeles).
In Half Moon, adult film superstar Tori Black makes her mainstream debut as Rose, a down-on-her-luck prostitute who takes a mysterious, high-paying job with a very strange client. Rose has her misgivings, but just as she begins to relax, her client reveals a terrifying and deadly secret.
Half Moon sinks its fangs deep and will not let go until the bloody, hair-raising climax. Marek Matousek and Torey D. Sutton also star alongside adult performers Nicki Hunter and Jack Lawrence.
"It's a good popcorn movie," says the beaming Toler. "This is the first of many for me."
On working with his gorgeous star, the AVN Female Performer of the Year in 2010 and 2011, Toler says, "We were very fortunate to have Tori come on board. It's a strong performance. She really understood the balance of the role."
Distributed by Breaking Glass Pictures, Half Moon has enjoyed some buzz and strong early sales numbers, driven by its unique crossover appeal. Horror fans and adult fans alike will be attracted to its blend of the erotic and the spine-tingling.
Toler has already promoted the film on Playboy Radio’s Night Calls as well as mainstream horror blogs and podcasts like Moviescum.com. Horror sites such as Fearnet.com and ShockTillYouDrop.com have been spreading the word with images of the movie's striking poster and DVD sleeve, as well as its trailer.
In addition to bloggers and critics howling their praises, Breaking Glass Pictures CEO Richard Wolff also had kind words for the movie. “We are proud to distribute Half Moon,” he said. “Sales have been amazing so far. Tori Black gives an amazing performance, and we look forward to Jason Toler's next project.”
“I hope the audience enjoyed it,” said Toler, who now looks forward to several new projects. Half Moon debuts on DVD and VOD on March 8 and can be ordered online at BreakingGlassPictures.com or Amazon.com. For everything Half Moon, follow at Twitter.com/halfmoonmovie and on Facebook.
