MEXICO CITY—Two movies form TROUBLEfilms have been selected for screenings at the Muestra Marrana film festival in Mexico City: Fucking Mystic, starring Chelsea Poe and directed by Courtney Trouble, and a new Ajapornfilms short, City on Fire, starring Ramses Rodstein and April Flores.
The film festival, which runs June 2-7, seeks to highlight alternative and queer narratives in pornographic film.
"I am a huge fan of the Muestra Marrana film festival crew and am honored to be present for my first Mexican film screening," said Courtney Trouble. "I am ready to be humbled by Mexico City, and to meet the amazing subversive smut lovers that live there. This is a huge opportunity for myself and my fellow TROUBLEfilms travelers Ajapornfilms and Ramses Rodstein."
The free film festival will be held at ExTeresa Contemporary Art.
"We intend to show the multiplicity of sexualities and practices and the reasons why many of them are marginalized or stigmatized," the festival website states. "Come expand your body and your mind. Come discover another porn IS possible."
In addition to attending the film festival, Trouble is running a fundraising effort on IndieGoGo Life in an effort to attend grad school. Trouble has been accepted into the masters of fine arts program at California College of the Arts.
“My goal is to pursue new skills in photography and fine art in order to make a much broader statement to the world about sexuality, queerness, feminism, and social justice through art that I am able to now as a commercial porn maker,” she said in an email sent to potential backers. “If you love the rebellious, gritty, politically-charged, creative, and strange arthouse porn that I make now, just imagine what I might be able to do after 2 years in such an amazing program. Appeal to that magical moment where you get to see erotically charged protest porn made by a queer, fat, disabled feminist with a Masters In Fine Arts!”
