VAN NUYS, CA — DreamZone Entertainment is the recipient of 21 Adult Video News (AVN) Award nominations, including one for the company itself in the Best Overall Marketing Campaign–Company Image category. Godfather XXX: A DreamZone Parody, the studio’s critically-acclaimed XXX spoof of the classic 1972 Academy Award-winning mob drama, received 10 nominations.
In addition to the 10 Godfather XXX nominations, the studio saw its satirical features of Mork & Mindy: A DreamZone Parody and Romeo & Juliet: A DreamZone Parody also garnered four nominations each. Love or Lust: A Broken Romance, the first feature film from its “Romance” line, was recognized in the Best Romance Release category, and the recently-released Cute & Curvy title received a nomination for Best DVD Extras.
DreamZone Entertainment studio was launched in 2010 as a production company dedicated to creating high-end, full-length features with an emphasis on parodies. The studio quickly established itself in the parody genre by using industry-leading stars in its XXX sendups of popular television shows Roseanne, Sex and the City and Cops. In 2012 the company broadened its source material by adding movie franchises to its repertoire, as well as starting a “Romance” line.
Godfather XXX: A DreamZone Parody was released in August 2012 to rave reviews. Taking viewers inside the story of the Whorleone family and its ownership of the world’s largest adult-film distribution company, acclaimed Director Lee Roy Myers told the tale of a family on the brink of a porn war, entangled in a treacherous web of deceit and debauchery. The movie offers an all-star cast, comprised of Peter O’Tool as the Dong Vito Whorleone, Kagney Linn Karter as Kay, Tommy Pistol as Michael, Jessie Andrews as Jenny Fontaine, April O’Neil as Slutzo, Michael Vegas as Sonny and Anthony Rosano as Luca. Bridgette B., Veruca James and Mr. Pete also make appearances. AVN recognized the movie with nominations for Best Parody–Comedy, Best Parody–Drama, Best Screenplay-Parody, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Director-Parody, Best DVD Extras, Best Editing and Best Non-Sex Performance.
Mork & Mindy: A DreamZone Parody, received four nominations, including one for its “out of this world” namesake star portrayed by adult industry film legend Evan Stone in the Best Actor category. The video itself was nominated for Best Parody–Comedy and a scene featuring Stone with Nicki Blue received a nod in the Most Outrageous Sex Scene category. In addition, the movie was recognized for Best Art Direction.
Romeo & Juliet: A DreamZone Parody also received 4 nominations, including Chanel Preston for Best Actress for her outstanding portrayal of Juliet. The high-quality production was recognized as a nominee in the Best Parody–Drama and Best Screenplay–Parody categories, and DreamZone’s efforts in promoting the film netted a nomination for Best Overall Marketing Campaign–Individual Project.
The studio’s very first title from its Romance line, Love Or Lust: A Broken Romance, was nominated for Best Romance Release, boding well for the future of the high-end line. The B. Skow-directed title, Cute & Curvy, which offered a unique take on the “modern voluptuous woman”, also received a nomination in the Best DVD Extras category.
