BURBANK, CA—Female-to-male (FTM) performer and trans activist Buck Angel will be sponsoring the Best FTM Scene category at the upcoming Transgender Erotica Awards. This is the first time the category will be included at the event.
“Thank you to TEA for making an award show dedicated to the transgender genre in the adult industry,” said Angel. “Now we can celebrate our own successes and what we bring to the industry with pride and gratitude. I feel very honored to be a part of this show from the very beginning and winning the very first FTM performer award.”
“Buck has been a supporter of the show since its inception and as a pioneer in trans man erotica, as well as an educator and media personality, we're honored to have him as a sponsor,” said Grooby Productions owner Steven Grooby. “This is third year we've had trans men categories and given the growth and interest in this niche, we thought it was time to include a second trans men category for Best FTM Scene. We're looking forward to cultivating our show with this part of the community.”
Buck Angel was the first trans man recipient of the AVN Transsexual Performer of the Year award, the first recipient of the Best FTM Performer award at the Transgender Erotica Awards, and a recipient of numerous Feminist Porn awards. An icon of popular culture, his message of empowerment through self-acceptance has struck a passionate chord with people all over the world.
Buck not only inspires people to think outside the box, he redefines gender and educates an entire generation on the fluidity of sexuality and identity politics. Since he coined the phrase "it's not what's between your legs that defines you!", the term has become an anthem for men and women everywhere who have been inspired by this message of self-acceptance.
As the pioneer of an entirely new genre, Buck received international recognition for his work and continues to be a box office hit in numerous markets. The visionary filmmaker, advocate, educator, and motivational speaker launched Buck Angel Entertainment as a vehicle to produce multimedia projects including his groundbreaking mainstream documentary, Sexing the Transman. It appears at film festivals around the world. Fans can view his newest documentary, Mr. Angel, currently on Netflix.
In 2012, Buck was elected to the board of directors of the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance and currently works to support that liberty as a human right. He has been a contributor to the Huffington Post and in 2013 was appointed as a writer for their “Gay Voices” blog. He is also currently working on his memoir. Click here for more information.
