Axel Braun Wins Big at 2011 AVN Awards

LAS VEGAS—It was definitely a big night for Axel Braun, as the director took home 14 AVN Awards, seven of which were for his blockbuster hit Batman XXX: A Porn Parody distributed by Vivid Entertainment.

The sexy spoof of the ’60s TV show was honored for Best Parody, Best Renting and Selling Title of the Year, Best Screenplay, Best DVD Menus, Best Overall Marketing Campaign, Best Supporting Actor (Evan Stone for The Riddler), and Best Supporting Actress (Lexi Belle for Batgirl).

Braun, who during the ceremony was inducted in the AVN Hall of Fame and won more awards for his parodies of Avatar and Glee, also took home trophies for Director of the Year-Body of Work, while his namesake studio Axel Braun Productions was named Best New Production Company.

"It was surreal, and quite overwhelming," said Braun, who during one of his speeches attributed his success to "working obsessively, barely sleeping, and kissing your private life goodbye."

"Axel created something absolutely unique with this movie," said Steven Hirsch, founder/co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment, "He is a perfectionist and he's very passionate about his work, and we are all very happy for his well-deserved success."

"It's a great honor to join my dad in the AVN Hall of Fame," said Axel, whose father is legendary porn-pioneer Lasse Braun, "I had a fantastic year, and I had the privilege to work with many talented people who were an integral part of my success, so I really have to thank my crew and all the performers that have made it possible for me to accomplish so much."

Far from resting from his laurels, Braun, whose new hit Elvis XXX: A Porn Parody sold out overnight, is already back at work putting the finishing touches on his ambitious new spoof Superman XXX: A Porn Parody, which will be released by Vivid on Jan. 23, under the Vivid SuperXXXHeroes imprint.
