LOS ANGELES—Just weeks after becoming the first-ever male talent to win back-to-back-to-back Male Performer of the Year trophies at the AVN Awards, Mick Blue is on the cover of the March issue of AVN Magazine.
The headline of the March 2017 issue is “Happy Endings,” followed by “Many dreams came true at the 2017 AVN Awards.” Mick is holding Adriana Chechik, Female Performer of the Year winner in January. It’s remarkably similar to the March 2016 cover, which also featured Mick; though last year it was (Female Performer of the Year winner) Riley Reid in Mick’s arms. In the year between those two issues with Mick on the cover, men were featured on the cover twice: the November “Celebration of the Industry’s Beautiful Black Men” and Jules Jordan with Jesse and Alexis Texas in July of last year. In fact, Mick accounts for half the AVN covers featuring men over the past three years.
Both Mick and his covermate Chechik were interviewed for the March issue. Mick’s article—written by veteran reporter Tod Hunter and titled “Triple Threat”—talks about the overwhelming experience of being the first guy to ever win Male Performer of the Year three years in a row. His success is unprecedented and he shows no sign of slowing down. If anything, his success seems to fuel even harder work. He continues to work more than ever and his output from both sides of the camera continues to amaze.
“As we got closer to the awards I was hoping that maybe I could win it one more time,” Mick told Hunter for AVN. “I was not thinking it would happen. Like I said on stage, all the other guys in the same category are great in his own way. Anybody can win. You just have to see what happens on the stage and be happy for whoever wins. That I was able to make it again was a huge thing, and unexpected at the same time, for which I am so grateful.”
Read the interview with “the James Bond of porn” in the March edition of AVN (page 20). He also comes up in the coverage of the AVN Awards, with the main article stating Blue, “wearing a black tuxedo and red-striped bowtie, gave one of the classiest acceptance speeches of the evening.”
“Thank you so much to everybody. I’m the most lucky man in this universe,” he said the night of the AVN Awards. “The reasons why I say that is when I look back four or five years, maybe six or seven years, I definitely had the wrong woman in my life. And then I met Anikka Albrite, the most amazing, loving woman you can just imagine.
“She gave me the biggest support ever and she turned my life around and that’s the reason why I’m standing here now,” he continued. “I also want to say every single man in this category I love you all. Like Greg Lansky always says, you’re all artists and you’re amazing at what you do and I wish we could all win.”
