CYBERSPACE — With record-high unemployment, the adult industry is seeing thousands of new amateur stars and cam models sign-up for accounts. To help deal with the influx, xHamster is releasing over two dozen custom Zoom backgrounds to help newcomers experiment with the industry before taking the plunge. The new Zoom backgrounds include cameras and casting couches, live cam backgrounds and tubesite templates, leather gear and gloryholes.
"While it's more mainstream than ever to be a cam or premium star, it's not a step to be taken lightly," says Alex Hawkins, Vice President of xHamster. "Your family, friends, and co-workers will all eventually find out. We created a line of custom Zoom backgrounds to help would-be models see how they'd look on a tube or cam site. The backgrounds are a fun way to try it out, or see what their friends, partner, or family reaction would be before they hit upload!"
xHamster is releasing both SFW and NSFW versions of its backgrounds. Zoom has promised to crack down on nudity, but Hawkins is not concerned. "Unless they're going to hire spies and install peepholes, it's a stunt. The technology is not there."
For those who decide that the adult industry isn't right for them, the backgrounds are still a great way to live out the fantasy with a socially distant partner.
"With COVID, cam models are a bigger fantasy than ever," says Hawkins. "Our traffic rose nearly 20 percent during the shutdown. Regardless of whether people decide to cam for money, these backgrounds are a good way to get your partner's attention back."
