XonDemand always has encoded DVD movies in Windows Media and Real Player formats for customers' convenience, but Flash adds an extra level of "play anywhere" functionality. Any user with any computer operating system can view the movies right on XonDemand's pages without launching a separate media player application. In addition, Flash video loads more quickly and plays more smoothly.
"Migrating to Flash technology is something that has to happen if you listen to your customers and affiliates," said Rob Hoover, XonDemand affiliate manager. "We have been working hard in our VOD labs for months to create our exclusive Flash media player."
