LOS ANGELES—When he announced the launch of The Sex Factor, a reality competition that purports to seek out “the next top porn stars,” Buddy Ruben found the concept was catnip to mainstream news outlets. And it didn’t hurt that he had enlisted the aid of porn A-listers Asa Akira, Tori Black, Remy LaCroix, Lexi Belle and Keiran Lee.
A flurry of national headlines swirled when the production was announced, with stories by Time magazine, Rolling Stone, Daily Mail, Gawker, Daily Beast, New York Post and others. ABC Nightline also did a segment on the series.
Ruben's production company was acquired by adult streaming site xHamster.com. The new ownership moved Ruben to Las Vegas, where he opened a production studio.
Thing have been quieter since the initial hoopla, but today The Sex Factor executive producer and his colleagues announced that they will be throwing a private premiere party at Lure nightclub in Hollywood on Saturday, May 7. The event, which includes red carpet photo ops, begins at 8 p.m.
Ruben and some of his judges and contestants will be available for red carpet interviews. "We're excited to celebrate with our judges and contestants,” Ruben said. “Everyone is looking forward to sharing their unique perspective on the Sex Factor experience."
The ten-episode series follows 16 wannabe adult performers (eight guys and eight girls). The contestants, who responded to an open casting call, compete in increasingly explicit challenges.
