CHICAGO—News blog Sinn & Skinn announced today their Porn Star March Madness tournament. The tournament is a bracket seeding the top 64 active porn stars in a head-to-head, interactive Twitter-based competition to determine one porn star national champion. Porn stars will advance through the tournament to the Sexy 16, the Erotic 8 and the Fantasy Four, for a final showdown of the hottest four porn stars. Selection Sunday began on March 1, when the porn stars for this year's competition were selected.
"We wanted to give porn stars and their fans an opportunity to interact with and better appreciate what's going on in porn today," said Sean Sinn, CEO of Sinn & Skinn.
The tournament includes some of the biggest names and freshest faces in adult entertainment, including Mia Khalifa, Madison Ivy, Nikki Benz, Tasha Reign, Bonnie Rotten, Alexis Texas, Kendra Lust, Kendra Sunderland, Veronica Vain and Farrah Abraham, of MTV's 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom. The first 1-34 selection seeds were based upon Pornhub.com's porn star popularity rankings over the prior month's statistics. The last 35-64 seeds were based upon a combination of rankings, social media popularity, and editorial discretion. Regional seeds were based on several factors, including ranking statistics, location, matchups, and other factors. Retired porn stars were not eligible to compete.
The Selection Sunday announcements saw a lot of reaction on Twitter, as both fans and porn stars expressed their opinions about the seeds, matchups and about who did not make the tournament this year. One fan tweeted, "@KendraLust @thebonnierotten A dreaded 8-9 matchup, these are always close," with another fan tweeting, "@TheVeronicaVain vs @miakhalifa ... ouch."
Seeing her matchup against Asa Akira, Rachael Madori tweeted, "I'm so screwed." Veronica Vain had a similar reaction, tweeting, "I feel like matching me against sexy @miakhalifa is a bit unfair," continuing with "@XNicoleAnistonX @Madison420Ivy @AsaAkira I can't compete with these chicks yet either!" Lolly Ink, however, was grateful, saying "Thank you @sinnandskinn for putting me in your March Madness challenge. This should be fun ;)!!" And Kota Sky said, "I don't get it ;D," adding the hashtag "#blondeproblems."
The matchups will be determined by the total number of Twitter retweets and favorites of four potential tweets, two from Sinn & Skinn and one from each porn star in the matchup. The porn star who receives the most retweets and favorites will advance to the next round. Tweets will be released on each scheduled day starting at 11 a.m. EST and will begin to close at 8 p.m. (any ties to be extended for 1 hour overtime). Expect some interesting and memorable tweets from your favorite porn stars.
Skinn added of the tournament, "It's so much fun. It's a lot more fun than any tournament that I've seen. How many times doy ou you see people going crazy over the NFL like this?"
The competition officially began on March 19. Fans can download brackets here, print and fill them out, and either tweet them to @sinnandskinn or email them to [email protected]. The fan who predicts the winning bracket will receive a cash prize of $1,000.
