NEW YORK — Rebel Lynn will appear on Weird Medicine with Dr. Steve Saturday, April 30 at 11am PT / 2pm ET. The barely legal porn starlet will be discussing her fibromyalgia for the first time on the medical podcast.
“Fibromyalgia is not a flu or a broken bone, but it can bring up symptoms of both,” says Rebel. “And it doesn’t just go away in time. It's something I live with day in and day out.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues. Researchers believe fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way the brain processes pain signals. Symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection, or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time, with no single triggering event.
Women are much more likely to develop fibromyalgia than are men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, anxiety, and depression. While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation, and stress-reduction measures also may help.
Adds Lynn, “The best way to live with it is to actually live. You cannot let it get completely in the way of your everyday life.”
Weird Medicine is an entertainment medical show, hosted by Drs. Steve and Scott. The live interview will also be rebroadcast later, on Sirius XM’s Opie Radio channel.
