BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS - Affiliate program PerfectGonzo is now offering high definition movie downloads on the websites it runs, in 1920x1080 (1080p) using the VC-1 WMVHD format.
The 1080p resolution is currently the highest-resolution format widely used for broadcasting and consumer distribution of video content and is featured on HD-DVD, BluRay, Broadcast (1080i) and console games.
Members can immediately download around 150 HD movies, each over 30 minutes in length, in full HD. To become a member, a user must pay a $29.95 monthly subscription. There are no extra charges or premiums for the HD videos. The movies are encoded at 8000kbps using the VC-1 codec and can be played natively on Windows Media Player 11, as well as any other WMV capable player for PC, Mac or Linux computers. On a 5Mbit cable/DSL connection one HD movie can be downloaded in around 70 minutes. Since no DRM is used, playback is possible directly on an HDTV through an intermediary device such as a Microsoft XBOX 360, Sony Playstation 3, DVI to HDMI cable or a networked Media player.
