Kink.com Relaunches BehindKink.com

SAN FRANCISCO—BehindKink.com, the self-proclaimed “Voice of Kink” and the company’s official blog, relaunched yesterday with a new editor, purpose and look. Behind Kink was born out of a vision to bring the alternative communities inside the legendary Armory, and to be a place for news and discussion about the world’s largest fetish entertainment company.

Well-known adult star and personality Mickey Mod was named editor of Behind Kink in June and he’s spent several months developing content for the revamped site. Mod says he will work to bring a performer’s sensibility to the site, stepping behind the camera to shoot in-depth documentaries and interviews on different aspect of Kink.com production and the BDSM lifestyle.

“I want the site to contain in-depth interviews, vignettes that provide a closer look at the Armory, the directors, the BDSM community and alternative sexualities. Kink’s mission as a company is to demystify, inform and educate people about BDSM, and I think that BehindKink can be integral to that.”

Mod indicated that the biggest change to BehindKink will be its focus on video production, rather than articles which dominated it under previous editorial teams.

“The mainstream public has a lot of misconceptions about what happens behind Armory walls. My vision is to provide a better sense of transparency about our community, our performers, and our fans,” he said.

Mod got his start in adult at Kink in 2008 and has been nominated for numerous awards, including 2010 AVN Best Support Performer. Having done undergrad and grad work in Cinema/Film in the Bay Area, Mickey is no stranger to manning a camera.

Mod’s first piece on the site, an interview with new director Sebastian Keys, went live on Tuesday.
