CANADA—Juicy Ads has made a $1,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to benefit flood relief efforts in Calgary and southern Alberta. The recent Calgary floods have forced residents of the western Canadian city to evacuate as the surging waters have also taken the lives of several people in the province of Alberta.
As a Canada-based business, the Juicy Ads team is closely affected by the recent tragedy and is committed to lending its support. In particular, the floods in Calgary have personally touched JuicyAds founder Juicy Jay, whose family was among those who were most recently forced to flee the city.
“The police came to evacuate them, they couldn't take anything, their truck wouldn't start and they fled on foot, the floodwater water chasing them,” Jay said, adding that other family members were “lucky enough to salvage some belongings before escaping the dangerous floodwaters.”
In downtown Calgary, water has inundated homes and businesses, and swamped cars and train tracks. Nearby communities in Alberta have also been impacted.
Juicy Jay has plans to tour the damage of the city next week and has donated $1,000 on behalf of Juicy Ads to the Canadian Red Cross. The donation will fund the distribution of relief materials like water and basic personal supplies for those whose homes and possessions were damaged and destroyed, as well as cleaning kits for volunteers helping with the rebuilding efforts.
“It is so important for us to do what we can to provide aid to those currently affected by this disaster in Calgary,” Jay said. “We are pleased that we can help and encourage others companies to do what they can as well. Our thoughts are with those affected by the tragedy.”
