BRUNN AM GEBIRGE, Austria—Dimoco has published its second mobile operator payment country special, demonstrating once again the market potential for billing digital content via direct carrier billing in a specific region. This time Dimoco focuses on Italy, with its large economy and status as one of the world's well-developed mobile payment countries. Currently, web content up to 15 EUR can be billed via Dimoco's one-click-payment.
“With a credit card penetration rate of only 30.5 percent, we find that in Italy, mobile payment is the only way to bill digital content across the market,” sais Gerald Tauchner, CEO of Dimoco. “With our two available products, content providers get the maximum reach to bill their consumers via all available mobile- and mobile virtual network operators.”
“Our goal is to analyze the market in detail, thereby showing companies in the digital content industry how huge their potential is,” explained Tauchner.

In Italy, 133.5 percent of the population have a mobile phone; of this, 35.5 percent are smartphone owners. Four network operators share the 91.66 million mobile customers: Vodafone (31.7 percent), Telecom Italia (29.6 percent), Wind (27.3 percent) and 3 Italia (11.4 percent).
With its mobile operator payment products, Dimoco offers companies the possibility to bill their digital content directly via direct carrier billing—a service that, compared with traditional billing methods such as Premium-SMS, provides a much higher degree of flexibility and has become a seriously competitive payment option in every online check-out process, appealing for consumer groups that cannot be reached with conventional payment methods such as credit cards.
By providing 100 percent coverage through direct carrier billing, Dimoco dramatically increases the sales potential of every online merchant in Italy. According to the business customer needs’ Dimoco offers two direct carrier billing products in Italy. One-off and subscription transactions can be billed up to an amount of 15 euros for web content, and subscription services up to 6.10 euros for mobile & web content, depending on the Dimoco product used.
