Americans Blow Off Steam Online After Cyber Monday Splurge

People celebrated their Cyber Monday conquests in different ways. Some folks turned to social media to broadcast their feats, while others happily walked away knowing that their savings can be put towards future endeavors.

This year, however, millions of online shoppers across the U.S. turned to internet porn for some post-retail therapy in the wee hours of Monday morning, according to new statistics from Pornhub.com, a frequent destination for online adult entertainment.

Between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Cyber Monday, it appeared that Americans had either finished their shopping or needed a little break from the action, sparking a 15 percent spike in traffic to Pornhub, a site that receives tens of millions of views per month in the U.S. alone.

Across the entire day, people of the Mountain State (West Virginia) streamed a mountain-load of pornography, watching nearly 16 percent more than the state’s Monday average. Traffic in Indiana and District of Columbia was up 8.7 percent over the same 24 hour period.

The website also unveiled viewing habits from Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, too.

• On Thanksgiving Day there was a 31.3 percent increase between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. (compared to previous Thursday averages), though visits decreased by 50.3 percent between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. when people were either carving turkeys or watching football.

• Ironically, views were down 28.5 percent over Thanksgiving Day in District of Columbia (a top 3 performer on Cyber Monday).

• People with the day off on Black Friday in the State of New Jersey made the most of their free time, leading the way with a 13 percent increase in views.
