LOS ANGELES—The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has announced that online payments powerhouse CCBill has implemented the association’s Code of Ethics and Best Practices for Billing Companies.
ASACP offers a series of Best Practices for various market segments — including online billing companies, where CCBill has played a leading role since 1998, by providing payment processing and other services for more than 30,000 websites, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity. ASACP’s established Code of Ethics applies to all websites.
ASACP Executive Director Tim Henning recently assisted CCBill in revamping its child protection policies, which are now published on its website alongside information on how to report suspected child pornography to ASACP. This page also helps educate readers about the Merchant Code of Conduct, online piracy prevention and CCBill’s stance on corporate responsibility.
“We are grateful to Tim and the ASACP for taking the time to assist in the development of our protection policies,” Gary Jackson, managing VP of sales and Internet markets for CCBill stated. “In this industry, and in life, I think we all have a responsibility to ensure the safety of children and our implementation of the ethics and practices into our own operations as a leading payment processor is a step toward that goal.”
The company is a longtime supporter of ASACP, with efforts such as the annual ASACP/FSC charity golf tournament held as part of The Phoenix Forum, hosted by CCBill — which also provided a generous range of additional sponsorship for ASACP at this event.
“CCBill exemplifies how making money and doing the right thing can work hand in hand,” Henning said. “Corporate responsibility is an important consideration for companies grasping with the challenges of age-inappropriate content in the online marketplace, where ASACP’s expertise can help businesses protect themselves by protecting children.”
