Portuguese company Hotgold, leading producer of adult content in Portugal, has entered into an agreement with the two major video on demand (VOD) platforms in the world and, for the first time, its Portuguese adult movies are being distributed worldwide.
The titles produced by Hotgold can now be seen on the AEBN and HotMovies websites as "pay per minute," rental or download.
This is the first time that Portuguese adult films are available in the international market and this moment is seen by Hotgold as the first step to the internationalization of the company and of its productions.
"Today, Hotgold, whose catalogue features an international level of quantity and quality, has finally reached a point where our products can stand alongside the big names in the industry," said Carlos Ferreira, General Director of the company.
As the adult content market leader in Portugal (the group owns the HOT channel, which recently surpassed 30,000 active customers, as well as the biggest Portuguese adult website M18.PT, and publishes the Portuguese Penthouse magazine), Hotgold sees the international market as an opportunity and a necessity.
"For a company like Hotgold with our structure, experience, know-how and content, we must go beyond our borders because our domestic market still has little dimension, and digital distribution, which invariably will be the new market for adult content, despite having a very significant development in recent years, still suffers from a lack of regulation and definition in our country," Ferreira added.
Hotgold believes in this new international venture, because its products consist of brand new content, from a country that did not have its own production until recently, and especially because it presents new actresses, new faces that the international consumer always demand. Additionally, the catalogue also includes Portuguese amateur films and movies in 3D, a content differentiator that the international market still doesn't have much to offer.
Hotgold has launched a new B2B website in Portuguese and English versions to promote the catalogue.
