PHOENIX—WisdomYoni.com founder Cassondra Cardinal announced the debut of Yoni Mapping Therapy – The Bliss Method, an intimate therapy modality for women, for the first time on U.S. soil.
Developed by Australian somatic sex educator Bonnie Bliss, Yoni Mapping Therapy – The Bliss Method is a unique mix of trauma counseling and professional massage, known as bodywork. Sessions begin with 1 hour of talk therapy that seeks to hold space and help clients work through past experiences that may inhibit personal growth and self-discovery.
“I am excited for the world to learn about Yoni Mapping Therapy,” Cardinal said. “The holistic approach allows for a much-needed shift in how we perceive our female bodies, and the importance of love and self-care.”
Once comfortable, clients can choose to undergo an external and internal yoni massage. This intimate, though non-sexual, touch of the vulva and vagina aims to release pent-up muscle tension and introduce women to their own anatomy and pleasure potential.
“The internal work facilitates a very real and physical release of what could be described as an emotional knot,” explains Cardinal of her first time on the receiving end of Yoni Mapping Therapy. “I had been carrying this 'ball of stress' for as long as I could remember, and it was not until my practitioner proceeded with the internal Yoni Mapping that I could feel it leaving my body.”
Licensed practitioners like Cardinal spend months working one-on-one with Bonnie Bliss at her workshops in Byron Bay, Australia, to develop the delicate professional skills required to successfully counsel and heal clients.
“Most of our clients will feel some nerves before a session, which is totally natural. Usually afterwards they’ll be surprised how ‘normal’ and natural the whole thing felt,” said Cardinal. “We are really focused on creating a safe and comfortable space for the sessions and making it feel fun and interesting. Nothing is forced or pressured, and you are empowered to set your own boundaries in the session.”
Cardinal's private practice, Wisdom Yoni, was recently featured in the January 2018 issue of Sexual Health Magazine, and has already turned heads as a revolutionary form of sensual feminine healing.
“As women continue to shift toward empowered and self-knowledge, I anticipate Yoni Mapping Therapy becoming as mainstream as spending the day at the spa or attending a yoga workshop,” says Cardinal. “A healthy relationship with the entirety of our inner world is the basis for a healthy relationship with the world we encounter outside ourselves, Yoni included.”
