LONDON—Sex bloggers, erotic writers, and representatives from across the sex industry gathered in Camden last weekend for a lively Eroticon 2018.
More than 140 people came to Arlington House for the second year since the conference moved to London, with attendees from as far as Canada, the U.S. and Australia.
Delegates were treated to sessions on monetizing your sex blog, how bloggers and companies can work together, making sex writing more inclusive, crafting with KinkCraft and much more besides. As well as talks from bestselling erotic writers, top vloggers, and sex toy reviewers, Eroticon made plenty of space for sponsor companies to get involved.
Sponsor Fetish.com gave delegates advice on how to raise visibility in search engines, while LoveGivr and Mysteryvibe contributed to a fascinating panel on the future of sex. ElectraStim ran a demo during the Kinklab section of the weekend, giving many erotic writers their first experience of e-stim. Other event sponsors included Eroticon regulars Doxy, Hot Octopuss, and The Ruby Glow by Rocks-Off as well as new additions Bijoux Indiscrets and SexToys.co.uk. Attendees tried out their latest products, and were even offered the chance to have a go at wax play or rope suspension on a customized bed made by sponsor Sheets of San Francisco.
Eropartner, sponsors of the Saturday night social, brought their award-winning sex toy Zumio to show off, so attendees could give it a look while socializing after a fun day of talks. Eropartner's Geraldine Bakker said: “We are happy to have been part of this inspiring event and connecting with so many wonderful people!”
With so many of the attendees having large social media followings, the #Eroticon tag saw more than 500 tweets, 5,000 interactions and more than 270,000 impressions across social media over the course of the weekend.
Molly Moore, who organizes Eroticon together with Michael Knight and Girl on the Net, said:
“For the second year in a row we've been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and hard work of our speakers, sponsors and attendees. Not only did we sell more tickets this year, we also got lots more bloggers covering Eroticon in the run-up to the event, and we expect lots more over the coming weeks. We can’t wait to see what exciting work comes out of this year's event!”
Adam Lewis, CEO of sponsor Hot Octopuss, said: “This is the fourth year we’ve sponsored Eroticon and it’s been great to see it grow and evolve over that time—the sex blogging community is immensely valuable both to the sex toy industry and as a force for positive change in general, and it’s important to us to support that. This year was the biggest yet—fantastic to see so many sponsors and delegates, and we enjoyed showing off our new ATOM collection to everybody. We look forward to working with some of the bloggers and companies we chatted to over the coming year.”
Eroticon 2019 will happen at the same venue, in March 2019, though a precise date is yet to be set. Anyone interested in sponsoring the event should contact [email protected]—the organizers are taking a bit of a rest this week but will contact any interested companies in a couple of weeks’ time.
