WASSERBILLIG, Luxembourg—This year, pjur group supported the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, for the second time. This latest effort had been preceded by the Herald Sun/City Link Run in spring.
Many athletes and dedicated amateurs had taken part at this charitable sports event for the children of the hospital. pjur group learned of this event through their Australian business partners and happily supported the second event as part of their international humanitarian commitment.
“The Good Friday Appeal is a great fundraising effort that unites individuals, companies, clubs, schools, and whole towns in their effort to provide financial support to The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Thousands of people volunteered to give of their time, expertise, and creativity to ensure that the events are successful and that the results are rewarding.
These events date back as far as 1931, when a group of athletes and journalists of the Herald & Weekly Times publication The Sporting Globe first organized a charitable sporting event for the benefit of the hospital. Later, the decision was made to have an annual appeal on Good Friday, an all-day charity run that would be promoted in the print media and radio. The Good Friday Appeal has become a tradition, and today, the event is also covered by TV crews.
