LOS ANGELES—Wicked Pictures contract star, sex advocate and ethical activist Jessica Drake is the closing keynote speaker for CatalystCon, which takes place Sept. 15-17.
“I am honored to have been asked to participate in the closing keynote, and to be able to contribute to the conversations started at CatalystCon,” Drake said. “With voices of intolerance cluttering the national political climate, it’s especially important we come together in support of sex workers, the LGBTQ community and human rights.”
Jessica will present the keynote speech as part of the Closing Keynote Plenary Address on “Sex, Politics and Resistance: Activism for Everyone,” from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 17 in the Grand Ballroom. The closing segment will include fellow keynote speakers Dr. Hernando Chaves, Jackie Rednour-Bruckman and Mo Beasley.
CatalystCon takes place at The Westin Los Angeles Airport, 5400 W. Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045. CatalystCon is an annual conference created to inspire exceptional conversations about sexuality with the aim of changing how society talks about and treats sexuality.
On Friday, Sept. 15, Drake will host and sponsor the Sex Worker MeetUp, 4:15-5:30 p.m. The private event invites current and past sex workers as a precursor to the CatalystCon Opening Reception. For more details about the meetup, including location, e-mail [email protected].
On Saturday, Sept. 16, Drake will participate on the panel “Beautism and Status: How Stereotypes Influence Leadership, and Limit Choices... Recognizing Patterns and Reclaiming Power,” Slated for 3-4:10 p.m., the panel will focus how people perceive influence and power, how we’re able to get people’s attention in ethical ways, and how societal definitions of beauty can sway perceptions.
Drake is a strong sexual health advocate and a sex educator who has taken her message mainstream thanks to media appearances, interviews and writings. As creator, director, producer, and host of Wicked Pictures’ award-winning instructional movie series Jessica Drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex, she is a sought after public speaker and sex expert.
