CHINO, Calif.—Inclusivity is a trending topic in many industries, and the sex toy industry is no exception. According to pleasure product company Honey Play Box, in the past, brands that traditionally catered to heterosexual, cisgender, able-bodied people may have left gender-fluid and disabled individuals feeling excluded.
But times have changed. A 2021 LGBTQ+ Market Insights survey showed 48 percent of gender-fluid individuals prefer brands showcasing diversity, while 62 percent are dissatisfied with limited choices in the sex toy market, Honey Play Box said.
In an effort to increase inclusivity for diverse consumer communities and tastes, the company offers several gender-neutral color options including green, orange, white and black, in its Terri, Kai2, and Scioness model adult toys, among others. Honey Play Box multi-use toys also have been designed to cater to various preferences and body types, with different sizes to fit individual needs. Voice-activated toys (operated with the Honey Play Box app) are more easily accessible for customers with limited mobility.
Honey Play Box maintains a commitment to increased inclusivity, with body and gender positivity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic diversity as important considerations for product development and design. The company welcomes feedback and collaboration with communities and individuals, to uphold standards for inclusivity.
