Magic Wand Creates Haiku Contest for National Haiku Poetry Day

NAPA, Calif.—As most people are likely not aware, National Haiku Poetry Day is observed annually on April 17, and this year, in honor of that event, Magic Wand is inviting friends and fans to submit their most inspirational haiku for a chance to win a Magic Wand Original.

Haiku is a type of short-form poetry which originated in Japan. Haikus often consist of non-rhyming phrases rendered in a 5-7-5 syllable pattern over three lines. Haikus have often been inspired by an element of nature, a season, a moment of beauty, or an individual experience or event. The purpose of National Haiku Poetry Day has been to encourage people to try this creative form of expression. Those interested may check out Magic Wand’s Instagram post about National Haiku Poetry Day here.

“Haikus are a great embodiment of Magic Wand—accessible and diverse, with a rich history. We are excited to see how creative people can get,” said Vibratex owner and vice president Shay Martin.

Martin noted that in order to enter the contest, “A haiku does not have to be about Magic Wand per se, though we can’t think of a better inspirational ‘moment of beauty’ than those brought about by a true Magic Wand.”

To enter, poets can simply put their haiku in the comments to the Instagram post. One winner will be selected, with the winning haiku announced on April 17 (also via Instagram).

Submissions can be made via @truemagicwand. Only one entry is allowed per person, and all entrants must be over the age of 18 and in the United States or Canada to win.
