LAS VEGAS—Berman Innovations CEO Stephanie Berman will participate in two panel discussions on Thursday, Jan. 19, at the AVN Novelty Expo in Las Vegas.
Dubbed “the CES of sex toys” by Wired magazine, the trade-only show for pleasure product professionals takes place at the Paradise Tower in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and will be restricted to trade attendees.
“I’m looking forward to wrapping up my whirlwind west coast conference tour with my attendance at the AVN Novelty Expo,” Berman said. “The entire AVN/AEE week is a great mix of retailers, products, and performers, and I'm thrilled to meet with everyone and share ideas and product information.”
Berman will first participate in the “I’m Coming Out“ panel, 11 a.m. to noon in Festival Hall C near Paradise Tower, which discusses marketing to the LGBTQ community.
“Marketing sex toys to the LGBT consumer poses an interesting set of challenges,” reads the panel description. “Retailers need to gain understanding about everything from gender pronouns to sexual preferences, and all points in between. Panelists discuss how sales personnel can create inclusivity and an educated, safe space for LGBT consumers to shop comfortably, both online as well as in brick-and-mortar retail stores.”
Berman will be joined by Coyote Amrich of Good Vibrations, Sarah Sloane of Sloane Consulting, and Steve Callow of Perfect Fit Brand. The panel will be moderated by Anne Hodder.
Berman will then participate in “Will The Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up?” from noon to 1 p.m. in the same room (Festival Hall C) to discuss pleasure product patents and piracy.
“Pirated sex toys not only hurt manufacturers and retailers; they also diminish consumer trust,” reads the panel description. “What steps can be taken at all levels of the industry to combat bootleggers and their possibly dangerous products? Even if you have a patent for your original product, you can still face knock-offs and cheap imitations. Experts share stories and tips from all sides of the issue.”
Berman will be joined by Nichole Grossman of CalExotics, as well as attorneys Steve Levy, and Greg Piccionelli; Kelly Shibari will be moderating the panel.
