HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.—Adam & Eve, adult products retailer, has released the results of a new survey that polled adults across the U.S. about their masturbation habits.
Self-love, self-gratification, solitary sex—regardless of the name that is used, adults are doing it. According to the retailer, here are the results of how often respondents are taking matters into their own hands:
Once or twice a week: 22 percent
Never: 17 percent
Once or twice a month: 12 percent
Daily: 9 percent
Less than every few months: 7.5 percent
Every few months: 7 percent
More than once a day: 3 percent
Prefer not to answer: 21 percent
Dr. Jenni Skyler, resident sexologist at Adam & Eve, said, “Masturbation is a safe, healthy, wonderful way to practice self-care. With mental and physical benefits, solitary sex can reduce stress and tension, boost immunity and improve sleep. Plus, it feels good!”

The web-based survey was conducted by an independent third-party company and used a sample of over a thousand American adults aged 18 and up. The research was sponsored by Adam & Eve in order to study sexual preferences and practices.
