Sportsheets’ Screening Of ‘Fifty Shades’ A Success

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.—Sportsheets International held a private screening of Fifty Shades of Grey on Feb. 13, before it opened nationwide, and hosted customers, employees and press for the event, which was a smashing success.

The event which was hosted by the award-winning BDSM and fetish manufacturer, which rented out an entire theater and with only a weeks' notice, quickly filled every seat.

"We were so excited to put on this screening for our Staff and Customers," said Julie Stewart, president of Sportsheets International. "Fifty Shades of Grey has obviously been a huge catalyst for business since the books first came out and spread like wildfire. We instantly saw the huge spike of sales coming for BDSM and fetish gear. We have been anticipating the release of the movie for months and it was really nice to take a night off to just hang out with our friends and customers and watch the movie that has brought all of us a sweeping amount of sales and success. We were delighted to see such a great turnout. All attendees  received a Sportsheets swag bag upon leaving the theater which everyone really loved. We are thrilled to have had such a successful event. A big thank you to Joanne Queenin, Sportsheets' executive administrator that worked so hard to make sure every seat in that theater was filled and all of our guests had a wonderful time."

The guests also had a great time. Christina Jones, who was in attendance, said, ”Thank you so much to Sportsheets for hosting this invitation-only event. It was such a treat to watch the movie in a private theater. It felt very VIP and I felt like I was watching a movie with over 100 of my friends. You don't get to experience something like that very often!"

Another attendee of the screening said, "We totally appreciated the private showing of Fifty Shades of Grey and the invitation from Sportsheets. The whole experience was extremely fun and even somewhat akin to an opening night in Hollywood, just without the chaos."

In addition to Sportsheets staff and customers, the audience also included a variety of attendees who work outside of the industry. Hernando Chaves, who is a licensed marriage and family therapist as well as a doctor of human sexuality, said, "Sportsheets has long been a supporter of local college human sexuality students, offering internship opportunities and invitations to special events such as the Fifty Shades of Grey movie screening. Seeing the movie helped support class discussions involving Fifty Shades, BDSM, and the evolving social climate of kink acceptance and sexual diversity."
