ROTTERDAM, The Netherlands—Pipedream's European executive Raymond Houtenbos and friends were in Rotterdam this past weekend with their track shoes and high hopes, sponsoring a local racing team for Rotterdam's Roparun 2013.
"Charity events like these are great because no matter what place our team finishes in, everyone associated with the fundraiser ends up a winner," said Houtenbos. "Pipedream is proud to be associated with such a great cause and we look forward to sponsoring the event again in the future."
Pipedream sponsored Team 261, which consisted of more than 25 members teaming up to complete the grueling triathlon-style race. In the end, the Pipedream team completed the race successfully but came up short, and after all was said and done, the only thing that seemed to matter was how much money the Pipedream team raised for charity. Regardless of the finish, spirits were still high among participants knowing that their hard work and commitment went towards raising money for less fortunate cancer patients.
The Roparun is an annual relay race of approximately 520 kilometers from Paris and 560 kilometers from Hamburg to Rotterdam, in which participants work as a team and compete in order to raise money for people who suffer from cancer. According to the event's race motto, "Add life to the days, where often days can no longer be added to the life."
