Laid C.1 Vibrator Named ‘Outstanding Product for Women’ by AVN

OSLO, Norway—Norwegian design company Laid was honored with the coveted "O" Award from AVN for Outstanding Product for Women award, recognizing the C.1 clitoral vibrator for superior design, form and function.

Boasting one of the most versatile hand-held shapes in the world, the C.1 delivers powerful stimulation with six variations and provides women with a sleek and modern pleasure tool born from the mind of an award-winning industrial designer.

The Outstanding Product for Women award is reserved for manufacturers whose innovation, attention to detail, and design prowess has a clear female focus. The C.1 was chosen in part for its unassuming shape that offers a truly versatile experience with a modern and sophisticated style.

“We had never seen a clitoral vibrator with a powerful motor housed on a silky silicone ring; we’re so used to this kind of shape being reserved for men,” said Sherri L. Shaulis, senior editor of pleasure products for AVN. “It’s not every day that the industry comes across a sex toy made for women that we’ve never seen before, which I think really resonated with voters. We’re so happy to have presented the Outstanding Product for Women to such a special company.”

The C.1 features a whisper-quiet motor encased in smooth and matte silicone with a wide ring-like handle that offers an ergonomic and ultra-comfortable experience. By slightly adjusting its position in the hand, users can massage, tease and stimulate every erogenous zone with two strong vibration speeds and one powerful pulsation mode.

“I designed the C.1 with a distinct purpose in mind, and the shape simply followed suit,” C.1 creator and Laid co-founder Line Iren Andersen said. “Unlike traditional bulbous or wand-like massagers, I wanted to create a hand-held vibrator that would be easy to grip, rotate, twist and turn as the user desires. Change the angle for direct clitoral stimulation or rotate to the left for softer labial massage—in a sense, the C.1 turns the experience into an intimate journey.”

Andersen started her pleasure product design career in 2007 as part of her master’s project in industrial design at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, where she created a sex toy set for couples. She quickly teamed with her friend, research assistant and now business partner, Karianne Ellekrans, to pursue creating a brand dedicated to bringing Andersen’s unique intimate designs to life under the Laid moniker. Now with an extensive knowledge and understanding of sex toys and adult retail, the duo creates innovative and modern pleasure products that are changing the way men and women have sex.

“It’s a true honor to have been given this coveted award, and Line and I would like to thank our peers, colleagues and everyone who voted for their support and accolades,” Ellekrans said. “We’re quite proud of the C.1 and the response we’ve received from our distribution and retail partners across the U.S. – it shows we’re on the right path and on our way to a very successful 2014!”
