NORMAN, Okla.—Adam & Eve has opened its 62nd franchise store nationwide, and the first in Oklahoma. Owners Andrew and Lennox Ryerson-Gonzalez opened the store at 218 E. Main St. in Norman.
Previously a jewelry business, the site now houses lingerie, pleasure products and more.
“That’s been really exciting for us,” Lennox told The Norman Transcript.
When the couple decided to open their own business, they were intrigued by the idea of an adult boutique. After attending a Discovery Day at Adam & Eve’s headquarters in Hillsborough, N.C., they agreed that Adam & Eve’s company values aligned with their own.
“We were really, really excited about the fact that the corporation does a lot of outreach to third world countries with condom industry distribution and community involvement,” Lennox told the newspaper.
As the first franchise in Oklahoma, the store will carry lingerie for women of all sizes, as well as pieces for transgender individuals. There will also be several pleasure products, including those inspired by Fifty Shades of Grey, the couple said.
"We are very excited about the newest addition to the Adam & Eve franchise family," said Dave Keegan, head of Adam & Eve Retail Division. "We are expecting many great things from the Oklahoma Adam & Eve Store!"
The space has a red-and-black color scheme, and features a chandelier and a waterfall. There are spacious fitting rooms and a pedestal and backlights to showcase certain club wear items.
Already, the store is gaining fans from neighboring businesses.
“The ladies across the street are ecstatic to find out we were coming here,” Lennox told the newspaper. “They were giving us fist bumps and saying ‘Man, we need something like that over here in Norman.’”
The store officially opens at 7 p.m. March 26, and the public is invited to a softer opening the next morning.
