SAN FRANCISCO—The Center for Sex & Culture is participating in national give OUT Day on May 9, and offering goodies in return to those who donate.
“And if we are the Bay Area nonprofit that raises the most money, Horizons Foundation will grant us an additional $5,000,” the CSC said in a letter to supporters. “That's right, any person's donation—in any amount, even $10—might be the gift that puts us over the top and allows us to raise another ($5,000).”
Give OUT Day is a new national initiative that will engage hundreds of organizations and mobilize thousands of people on a single day across the country to give in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender & queer community. It is a chance for LGBTQ groups large and small, to work across the wide range of issues and activities that matter to the LGBTQ community from sports to policy change, families to the arts. It is a chance for members of the LGBTQ community and many allies to stand up and show support for the community together on one day.
“Any amount, large or small, brings us closer to our goal of winning the $5,000 challenge grant generously offered by Horizons Foundation,” the CSC letter added. “Please help! Here's our link: http://www.razoo.com/story/Center-For-Sex-And-Culture. It's newly blinged-up with images and the CSC story, and the Razoo site makes it easy! (Please note that only donations made here on May 9 count toward the challenge grant.)”
In addition to knowing you helped out a good cause, anyone who donates $20 or more to the CSC through the Razoo site will be given a discount code for 20 percent off any new product at TantusInc.com, good toward the purchase of any of Tantus’ 100 percent ultra-premium silicone sex toys. Just send the Razoo confirmation to [email protected].
Anyone donating $10 or more will receive a $10 discount toward CatalystCon West, a sex-positive conference where speakers and sessions focus on sparking communication about sex work, sex education, and much more. Simply email [email protected] with the Razoo confirmation and a discount code will be emailed to you.
Anyone who donates $25 or more will put into a raffle for two registration tickets to CatalystCon West.
The CSC is a nonprofit organization formed in 2000 as a library, gallery, archive and community space for preserving and sharing information and artifacts of sexual identity, products and ideas.
To have a donation count toward the fundraising goal, on May 9 go to the CSC page at the fundraising website Razoo—http://www.razoo.com/story/Center-For-Sex-And-Culture—and donate. Since the CSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your gift will be tax-deductible.
All donations will go toward getting hot water at the CSC, helping to develop the archives, paying down the debt from having to move two years ago, and paying this year's insurance.
